In her second term as state representative, Christine was elected by democratic colleagues to serve as the Democratic Floor Leader.  In this capacity, Christine manages the voting processes for the caucus as well as serves on the democratic leadership team.  Her focus is strengthening collaboration and teamwork to achieve progressive democratic solutions for our state. In 2017, Christine was also honored with the prestigious Sander Levin Elected Official of the Year award by the Oakland County Democratic Club and the Excellence in Education - Legislator honor from the Michigan Association of Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) and AT&T.

In her first term, Christine was one of only three Michigan legislators to be chosen for the 2015 Bowhay Institute Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD) program.  This prestigious program is sponsored by the Council of State Government - Midwest.  Christine completed her fellowship program with colleagues from 11 midwestern states and two Canadian provinces.
